Simply... exaggerated: Amax by Fontana Arte doesn't like half-measures, and it is
clear since the first sight. Charles Williams designed for Fontana Arte a very
conventional lamp as for shapes and lines, but absolutely over the top as for
dimensions. Amax is a floor or suspended light characterized by an enormous
diffuser: if you see it in a furnished room it seems Gulliver's lamp in the land of
Lilliputians. The diffuser, made in white polyethylene, has the classic truncated-cone
shape; for both versions the mounting (base and stem for the floor version) is made of
chrome-plated metal. In the suspended version Amax offers more possibilities of
customization: the diffuser is available in white, silver or black, and upon request in
metallic silver or gold. It's also available – upon request – a lower closing disc made
of methacrylate.
