Here it is, “the” lamp: Fontana by Fontana Arte it's almost the realization of what in the collective imagination corresponds to the idea of “lamp”. The stigmatization of an idea. Fontana is a very elegant table light (there's also the suspended version, but we'll talk about it later) designed by Max Ingrand in 1954 and characterized by classic shapes and a simple but refined “dress”: white satin blown glass. A globular body lamp and a shade, nothing more, for a lamp totally devoted to light that expresses purity and simplicity. White bosses the show, because in addition to be the color chosen for the body and the shade it's also the one chosen for the metal frame, very simple and barely visible. Fontana has double switch, thus allowing to light on only the globular body or only the shade, or both of them. The suspended version of Fontana is probably not as captivating as the table one, but it surely is very elegant: white satin blown glass shade and telescopic tige to vary the height.
