Elegance is a matter of details, small particulars, is the result of a calibrated and refined set of elements. Fontana Arte's S1853 – a 1954 project – it's a perfect example: simple, discrete, almost perfect. A very neat suspended lamp and at the same time a disarming essential object: stem, diffuser, nothing more. No frills and no loud colors, no extravagant shape or cutting-edge materials. S1853 is very classic: chrome-plated metal for the thin cylindric stem and white blown satin glass for the truncated-cone diffuser. The refinement is in the stem, because beside being telescopic it “houses” inside the supporting cable, so that S1853's appearance is very neat and trim. S1853 is available with the diffuser in three different sizes (20, 32 and 47 cm of diameter) and three different lengths for the stem (120, 153 and 163 cm max).
