A high-sounding name for this modern suspension lamp that is part of Foscarini's
range. Le Soleil – which means “sun” in french – was designed by Vicente Garcia
Jimenez in 2009 and it's definitely modern but at the same time classic in a way,
thanks to a simple and essential project. Le Soleil is made up entirely by its diffuser,
except for the little ceiling rose and the wire that holds the diffuser; the latter is made
of polycarbonate, has the shape of a bizarre globe and it is available in white and in
two bright and “fresh” colors, red and a beautiful aquamarine. Le Soleil's peculiarity
is that the polycarbonate doesn't allow light to filter through the diffuser: this means
that the “globe” is lit but light comes out from the upper end and mostly from the
lower one in a direct beam. It's the ideal lamp to place above a table or desk, but its
young design allow it to fit easily different situations.
